After a woodcut,
Munich, 1523.
The Emperor Maximillian commissioned a series of woodcuts
showing a parade that featured
himself dressed as Apollo on an ornate chariot. The parade
measures some 26 feet when fully
assembled. The only panel that does not have the participants
dressed as mythic Greeks is the Minstrels. It is a very curious
combination of instruments being performed as the musicians
stumble along a rocky path.
