Printed from four woodblocks by Hans Guldenmund, Durer School, Nuremberg,
1517. This is a visual satire of architectual pretentiousness: the column
cannot stand, as its base is a turnip root! The figure at the top is the
pleasure-seeking Roman woodland demi-god Satyr, half man and half goat, from
whom we derive "satire".
